Farha Tarig - REVISE AND REVISE IN THE KEY TO PASS

REVISE AND REVISE IN THE KEY TO PASS

1. Hello, please tell us something about yourself.

My name is Farha Tarig. I graduated in July 2018 from Zhengzhou University, China. I scored 208 in the December 2018 session of FMGE.

2. What do you think is the correct approach to study for FMGE? Only MCQ's or Theory+ MCQ's?
I think the best way to prepare is Theory + MCQ ’s. This is how I prepared and it worked for me. Solving MCQ’s shows you the gaps in your knowledge and then once you pinpoint your weakness, you can work on your theory in that particular area.

3. When should the preparation ideally be started?
I think starting a year before the exam gives you enough time to get everything covered

4. Please list the books you studied for each subject.
Anatomy- Vishram Singh Histo embryo- Inderbir Singh
Physiology- Ganong
Biochem- Satyanarayana Note that I used the above books for difficult concepts only and I read ROAMS to review everything
Pathology- Sparsh Gupta, Goljan
Pharmacology- Sparsh Gupta
Micro-Immuno- clinical microbiology made ridiculously simple, Lange
FMT- R K Sharma
PSM- Vivek Jain
Medicine- Mudit Khanna
Surgery- Manipal
OBGYN- Sakshi Arora
Pediatrics-Aravind Arora.
Opthamo- A.K. Khurana review.
ENT- Sakshi Arora
Radiology- Sumer Seth review
Orthopedics- Maheshwari
For Anesthesia, Dermatology, and Psychiatry- read ROAMS In addition to this I used ROAMS and FMGE solutions to solve MCQs

5. Have you attempted FMGE previously? If yes, what did you do different this year that lead to your success
No

6. How big is the role of practice and revision while preparing for FMGE and how much time should be dedicated for it?
Dedicate the last 2 months for revision and practice, as that is the most important part of your prep. Spaced repetition is the key to cracking this exam. With this exam, you’re supposed to remember a whole lot of facts and basic concepts and they won’t stick with you until and unless you constantly revise.

7. Did you use a time table/study plan to keep your preparation on track?
I did use a plan during the last 4 months

8. Were you a topper or a mediocre student during graduation?
I was a topper in medical school.

9. List the most difficult and easiest subjects for you.
The hardest ones were Biochem, Pharmacology, and PSM & the easiest ones were Pathology, FMT, Microbiology.

10. One mistake that you believe everyone must avoid while preparing for FMGE
Don’t skimp out on attempting MCQs just because you feel that you haven’t finished reading the theory. Don’t make the mistake of doing just a few questions.

11. Special thanks to any group or institute or any person?
Special thanks to you for your effort to make regular tests for us and to all the FMGE apps like DMA, PrepLadder, U medico, e- neutron for providing an amazing study platform with countless MCQs and tests free of cost. Even though I didn’t pay any money, the material and questions were definitely not substandard. On the contrary,it was one of the reasons I could do well.
